The workload of many solar installers has increased significantly in recent weeks, following the government’s announcement that the Feed in Tariffs will be cut for installations set up after December 12.
Solar installation and grid connection companies are said to be struggling with the increased workload and the number of calls and enquiries they are receiving from both current customers and potential new business.
The government announced that the Feed in Tariffs rate will be slashed in half, with homeowners who miss the deadline receiving only 21p per kilowatt hour, compared to the 43p per kilowatt hour currently available to homeowners.
Many homeowners who are waiting on planning permission or have paid their deposits and are waiting for the overworked installers to fit their panels are at risk of missing the deadline, and those homeowners that find their panels aren’t fully operational until after December 12 will receive the higher rate until April, when it will then revert to the new tariff.
